  38. @rebeccawhite7395 on March 6, 2025 at 3:51 pm

Heidi, I have a question. I made three or four olive oil and grape seed oil infusions but used fresh herbs….I was just reading that fresh herbs tend to turn rancid or can cause botulism. I’ve had them sitting in a shelf out of the sun for two weeks now, however we have high temperatures the past week almost 90 degrees and we have no air conditioning….should I be worried about my infusions? I’d hate to have to throw them away however I also don’t want to make my family sick. Thank you for any guidance you can provide.

Can this infused oil be used on children ages 3 years and above?

  46. @victoriahattemar1019 on March 6, 2025 at 3:57 pm

I make the Old Alabama Gardeners Comfrey salve recipe which contains Comfrey, olive oil beeswax and rosemary oil. His recipe infuses the comfrey into the oil in a crockpot on low setting with the lid off. I made this recipe using extra comfrey so the finished product is dark green and kept in the refrigerator. I’m absolutely shocked how good this salve works for skin irritation, muscle soreness etc. It’s amazing for my compressed back. Slap some on a no pain for a good night’s sleep!
Is using a crockpot in this manner not going to work using other herbs for infusions?
